* In reading we will focus on the comprehension strategy of using our background knowledge to make connections.
We will look at different long vowel combinations (oa, ee, ea, ie, etc).
We continue to focus on "ideas" with our 6 traits of writing. We are also introducing more conventions in our journal writing. We are transitioning from labeling to writing sentences. The journal rubric will be changing to allow for these expectations.
* In math we will learn about 3D shapes.

* Reminder that we will have a planning meeting this Wednesday at 4:00 for our 1st ETC day (100 day). Please let me know if you are planning to attend this meeting. We will meet in the kindergarten pod.
* This is spirit week at PRE. Spirit Day details:
Tuesday: Inside Out Day
Wednesday: Work-Out Wear Day
Thursday: Hat Day
Friday: All School Shirt Day / all school pep assembly / Student vs Teacher basketball game is Friday night at 6:00.
* Parent Teacher conferences are set for Wednesday and Thursday, February 10 & 11. Sign Ups will be available later this week. Please watch for this via Skyward and make sure to sign up. Kindergarten conferences are for parent and teacher (they are not student led).
* Scholastic book orders are coming home in folders today. If you would like to order books - please place your order through Scholastic. Our class code is GMMD6. Order deadline will be next Tuesday, 1/19.
* There is no school on Monday, 2/18 for Martin Luther King Day.
