Weekly Update 11/15/10

*  This week our focus will be on the letter and sound for Gg.  Over the next 2 weeks we will talk about the hard /g/ sound and the soft g /j/ sound.
*  The sight words are for & me.  The vocab words are describe, each & celebration.  We continue with our comprehension strategy of creating images.
*  If you still have a small reading book at home (it came home in a bag) please return the book.  I will be sending new books home this week.  Thank you!
*  Thursday will be rainbow day.  Wear something colorful to school or wear as many different colors as you can. We will read The Rainbow Fish!
*  In math we will work on showing time to the hour on a clock, identifying #s that come before, after and between (0-10), writing and ordering money amounts to 10 cents, and paying for items to 10 cents using pennies.
*  Our Kindergarten Thanksgiving feast will be next Tuesday at 10:45 for AM and 3:05 for PM.  Thanks for all of your help with our feast!
*  5th grade is holding a fundraiser for The Shawnee Storm.  Your child may wear their PJs to school for $1 this Friday!
*  Your child has brought home their coin collector that we made last week.  This is for them to collect change for Heifer International.  This is a not a required activity!  If they would like to put their loose change in the container and then bring it to school to place in our Heifer jar - that is great!!
*  The school wide reading program ended yesterday.  Please turn in all reading logs by tomorrow.  We will start another reading program in December.  Until then you can fill out the class reading list (10 books on a list).  I will send some home today.
*  You may have heard that a high school class has been in to meet us and observe what we do in kindergarten.  We are so excited for these "big" kids to come back the 1st week of December to present a lesson and a few fun activities!
*  Next week school is in session Monday and Tuesday only.  No school Wed-Fri!
