We have been using play dough in our learning boxes this month with letter cookie cutters. This is the recipe for the Sparkly Peppermint Play dough that we are using.
2 cups water
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 t. cream of tartar
4 T. oil
4 T. peppermint extract
food coloring and/or glitter
Mix all ingredients in a heavy saucepan (not food color and glitter). Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Form dough into a ball. Mix in food coloring and/or glitter. Place on waxed paper and cool completely. Store in Ziploc bags.
