This week in kindergarten:
* We begin a new theme in reading: Meet My Family. Our comprehension strategy we will focus on during this theme is "creating images."
We will work on the letter and sound for Ll. Our vocab words are food, grandparent & together. Our sight words are car & am.
Here is another cute video for learning the concept of "silent E"
Magic E
* In math we begin topic 4. We will be comparing and ordering numbers 0-10.
* We have a lot going on this Friday. Ms. Brown will be in the classroom for a guidance lesson and we will have 4th grade buddies here for a fun activity to end the day.
* Our color word this Wednesday is gray. If your child has something gray to wear - save it for Wednesday.
* A note is coming home in folders today regarding the kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast that we will have on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd. (will update with a time next week) Your child has been assigned a certain item to bring for our feast. If you are not able to send the item in - just let me know ASAP. We are also looking for volunteers to help us that day. We will need help with set up, serving and clean up. Let me know if you would like to join us and I will add your name to the list.
* Harvesters update!! I took a very full jar to the bank on Saturday. The total was $208! Way to go Kindergarten!
* This is a good time to begin having your child practice zipping his/her own coat. I am always happy to help the children - but it is good for them to become independent with this skill.
* Scholastic Book orders are due today. Please follow the link in last week's update if you would like to order. :)
* I am working on the volunteer schedule for Jan-May. If you have been volunteering in the classroom and need to make any changes (frequency of volunteering, days that don't work etc) let me know. Also, if you would like me to add you to the list - just let me know.
* I promised an update on 2nd quarter report card skills that we will be assessing in December. You can now access a list of 2nd quarter skills by clicking on Mrs. Hoover's Documents on the left side of this blog.
