Weekly Update 12/5

This week in kindergarten:
*  We continue with our theme of "Does it Move Fast or Slow."  We will concentrate on the letter and sound for Rr.  Our vocab words are ways, transportation & limit.  Our sight words are how & it.
*  We are reading several versions of The Gingerbread Man - The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Cowgirl.....we are comparing the stories by characters and by the refrain in each story.
*  In math we begin Topic 5 - numbers to 20.
*  We will meet with Ms. Brown on Wednesday for a guidance lesson.
*  We will meet with our 4th grade buddies on Friday.
*  Our school nurse, Mrs. Conrad, will be in on Friday to talk to us about hand washing.
*  The December Scholastic Book order is due today.  Please place your online orders by early this evening.  I will place the order tonight.  You can follow the link in last week's post to place a last minute order.  Let me know if the books are meant to be a gift - and I won't send them home with your student.  We can arrange a time to get them to you.  :)
*  There is no school for kindergarten next Friday, 12/16.  Our winter parties will be Thursday, 12/15 at 11 am and 3 pm.
*  Please, please have your child remember to wear their heavy winter coat this week.  The lows are in the teens.  As long as the temperature is above 20 at recess time - we WILL go out.  It is very, very cold out there!!
