Weekly Update 10/15

This week in kindergarten:
*  We are starting Unit 4 in Rigby Reading:  What Animals Need.  With this theme we will learn another comprehension strategy - Asking Questions.
We continue learning about the letter C and talking about the hard sound for C /k/ and the soft sound for C /s/.  We are also focusing on the vowels and their "short" sounds.
Our vocab words this week are burrow, hunt & travel.  Our sight words are here & in.
I sent home our American Sign Language reference sheet in folders today.  This is for your child to keep at home and use as he/she wishes.
We will work on our dry erase boards in handwriting as we practice lower case letters: v, w & k.
This week we will learn to spell and read the color word orange.  Wednesday will be orange day and your child is encouraged to wear something with orange on it.
*  In math we will begin Topic 4 on Tuesday.  With this topic we will compare and order numbers to 10 with a focus on 1 and 2 more as well as 1 and 2 fewer.
*  We will have vision and hearing screening this Thursday.  No news is good news.....you will only hear back from Mrs. Conrad if there is a concern.
*  There is no school this Friday or next Monday due to teacher in-service days.
