*Our field trip to Kaleidoscope is this Wednesday! Please make sure to send a home lunch with your child. We will return to school at 1:00 and eat in our classroom. The cafeteria will be unavailable. We will have a snack before we leave. I will have goldfish in the classroom if they forget their snack. Though they might want something a little more substantial (protein bar, granola bar, yogurt etc).
Please have your child wear their orange PRE shirt on Wednesday.
* Our class has earned over 150 pennants! We are excited for our next "class party." They are really wanting to do an Electronics Party. Here is how we will work this:
They may bring an electronic device to school this Wednesday. This could be a Nintendo DS, a tablet, IPod touch, Leapfrog device etc. Please put a sticky note on their device with their name on it. Upon entering our classroom Wednesday morning I will take ALL devices and place them in a box. No one will be allowed to keep their device at their table or in their locker. The classroom will be locked while we are on the field trip. We will have the party at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon when I will then pass out the devices. They will be allowed to play child appropriate games, listen to stories etc. I have also told the students that they must have your permission to bring their device. If you do not feel comfortable sending this to school (or if they do not have one) - that is A-OK!! I have my IPad and my Nook at school every day for them to use. We also have 2 computers in the classroom for someone to use.
I will make sure that all devices are placed back into their backpacks to return home.
* We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss all week! We will read Dr. Seuss books, work on Dr. Seuss writing projects and even some fun Dr. Seuss math activities! On Thursday we will have Green Eggs & Ham! Don't tell the kids though - it's going to be a surprise. :)
On Friday we will meet with our 4th grade buddies for Dr. Seuss reading. If you have Dr. Seuss books at home - please send them to school on Friday (with your name on the books). Your child will take their books to read with their buddy. All books will be returned home in backpacks. If you do not have Dr. Seuss books that is OK. I have quite a collection in the classroom for them to borrow.
We will also have a special show and tell time on Friday. You will find a bag in their daily folder today to use for the show and tell. Please have your child choose something small enough to fit in the bag and come up with a rhyming word as a clue for the class. Have them practice reading the message on the bag including the rhyming clue. For example: if they bring a ball in the bag the rhyming clue could be doll.

* Last Friday we went to the 4th grade Wax Museum. It was fun to see our buddies and hear all the neat things they have been researching and learning!
