weekly update 4/25/11

This week in kindergarten:
*  We will focus on the letter and sound for Yy.  Our vocab words are understand, place & history.  Our sight words are your & where.
*  In math we will graph a picture on a pictograph, cover a design using tangrams - explore with flip, slide & turn, identify the relationship between larger & smaller numbers, identify numbers 11-30 and identify a sphere.
*  We will end our study of animals and their life cycles and begin a brief unit on plants, seeds and the life cycle of a plant.
*  The chicks have been so much fun!  The children were able to hold them today.  If you didn't have a chance to see the video I posted last week - scroll down through the posts to last Thursday.  It is worth watching!  :)  Our chicks are getting bigger!!  And they are starting to get their grown up chicken feathers!  We will say goodbye to them on Friday as they return to the farm.
*  Update from our Harvesters lunch sack program:  PRE was able to fill 300 lunch sacks!  That is amazing!  Way to go PRE!
*  We had the BEST day on Thursday as we celebrated Earth Day.  Thank you so very much to our coordinators and volunteers.  We couldn't have these experiences without you!
*  Our specials schedule has changed this week.  We will follow the following schedule :  M- E day,  T - C day, W - D day, Th - E day and F - A day.  This is to cover the classes we missed during snow days.
*  I will not be in the classroom this Thursday or Friday.  Mrs. DeWerff will be our substitute teacher.
*  This will be the last week to send in coin collectors for the Heifer project.  I will take the money up to be counted next week and we will decide on which animals to purchase.
