Weekly Update 4/28

This week in kindergarten:
*  We had a chance to hold the chicks this afternoon!  Pictures are posted below.
*  The 4th quarter progress report is coming home in folders today.  We have listed the skills that will be assessed 4th quarter.  If a skill is highlighted -  that means your child would benefit from extra practice.  I had quite a few that still struggle with some of the short vowel sounds.  E and I are tough!  If your progress report is not highlighted - that would mean that your child has mastered the skills we have taught so far.
*  In small reading groups we are working on short vowel sounds as well as rhyming words.
*  In writing I introduced how to write a letter (and we made postcards).  This has also been added to our "work on writing" center during Daily 5.
*  We continue with Topic 9 in math - "more addition and subtraction."
*   We could use some extra snack donations and 5 oz Dixie Cups to get us through to the end of the year.  Thank you for your help!
*  Regarding the last 2 days of school and lunch:

Wednesday, May 22 is Field Day.  All students need to bring sack lunches to school.  The kitchen will provide lunches for students who forget, but will not be open for general service.

Thursday, May 23, there will only be one lunch choice, which is a sack lunch consisting of: turkey sub sandwich, Goldfish crackers, baby carrots, apple wedges or bananas, Go-gurt yogurt tube, fruit juice, and  milk.  Students who do not want this option need to bring a cold lunch from home.
