This week in kindergarten:
* The kindergarten team is piloting a new ELA program for our school district. For the next 5 weeks we will be teaching from the Journeys program. In January we will begin a different pilot program to test out. We are teaching the same skills and standards that we would normally teach this time of year - just with a different resource.
* In math we will begin Topic 8 - Understanding Subtraction. We will learn that the minus sign is a math symbol for "take away."
* In Social Studies we are beginning our unit of Celebrations Around the World. This week we will be visiting India, Isreal, Mexico, Hawaii and Japan. We are still needing to fill in many of our snack sign ups. Please use the link below to sign up to bring a snack for the class.

* We will meet with our 4th grade buddies this Friday.
* I am looking for someone to head our Winter Classroom Party (held on 12/14 at 3:00). Let me know if you are interested. I have a list of parents who are willing to help out - we just need someone who will organize. My motto on parties is "simple is better." No need to come up with elaborate ideas. I am happy to give you ideas to help!
